Bigger tires

IM looking to run a 4inch suspension lift and a 3 inch body lift on my 76 F150 4x4. I was wondering what some more mods i will need to make, what size tires can fit, and if im gonna need to change the driveshaft or anything else?? PLease help. Thanks, Kevin
 
Hey Kevin , im glad you could join us us here on the "f zone" .......i thought id reply because im in the last stages of what you are wanting to do..

its alot of work but so worth it... if money is an issue and you have use of some small equipment = welder, cutting torch, grinder, and possibly some air tools then i can can show you how to make some of this yourself.... but i will list the stuff you need wether money is an issue or not .......

FRONT-END

1) longer shocks
2) drop pitman arm
3) drop radius arm bracket
4) 4 degree c-bushings
5) extended brake lines
6) if equiped with sway bar (sway bar drop kit)

REAR-END
there is few different ways of lifting the rear of your truck here is a list
1) new leaf pack ($$$$$$$$) $-)
2) add-a-leaf (stiff) :wacko:
3) lift blocks (cheap but not safe) b-(
4)shackle flip (cheap, safe, and works great and i like it i built my own) 4.5 - 5" lift :D

needed for obove
1) longer shocks
2) extended brake lines
3) possibly shims and relocation plates (easy) depending on which way you go

BODY-LIFT
1) extra hands

like i said above i can show you how to build some of this yourself with the right tools.....if you want i can also tell you were to get the other stuff really cheap.... so let me know.....

my 78 f150 has 4" susp., 3" body, 460cid, 38" tires and will be getting a tilt bed, tilt front-end, winch bumper, dual batteries, most of it is stevebuilt not bought

this takes a little bit of jumping around, but worth the $-) $$$$$$$$ $-) you will save

4" front skyjacker springs (jackit.com) $127.99 + s/h thats cheap for new skyjacker springs but there are cheaper ones on there

shocks (superlift suspension systems)(an EBAY store) $15.00 ea.

drop pitman arm (davy's offroad products) (an EBAY store) $48.00

polyuerathane bushing kit w/4 degree c-bushings (acmetruckparts.com) $124.99

3" body lift (superlift suspension systems)(an EBAY store) $50.18

rear spring shackle flip (i built my own)(EASY !!!!) or you can go to (skymanufacturing.com)$125.00
dont forget to ask for the axle relocation plates......

drop track bar (i built my own)(EASY !!!!) i had to build my own because i have the quad shock setup and i could not find one for my setup....

drop radius arm brackets (my frame is a '77 and the rest is from my '78 parts truck so when i was stripping the '78 i realized that the radius arm brackets were about 2.5 - 3 " lower than the ones on the '77 (i hope you can understand my
blah blah blah....

if you decide to build your own stuff please for your own safety and others make sure if there is any welding have a certified or equivelant do the welding....

i can show you how i built my own stuff if you would like to know....

oh yeah!!! as for the tire size i put 38's on mine i will try to post a picture here in a day or two!!!!!!
 
Thanks again man, Im getting a set of The Mickey Thompson classic 2 wheels and 38's Super Swamper boggers. Hopefully it will look good.
 
i hope you dont plan on driving that on the street as adaily driver, youll be buying tires every 8-12 mths. those are made strictly for offroad.

Nah, its defiantely not a daily Driver. I got a 98 F250 Light duty for my daily Driver. Yeah that Info help tremendously. and i appreciate it alot man.
 
what size Offset u looking at getting?? Cause i guess if im gonna go throwin 38's on mine ill have the same problem. Did u have to change your gear Ratio??what about the driveshaft? sorry about all the questions but your advice is helping me so much that i cant thank u enough for answering all of them.
