how hard would it be to change my truck into a manual; what would i need and would all the effort really be worth it. i have an automatic C6 in it right now.

well to start off, you might want to just buy a truck with a manual tranny instead, I know you've heard it a million times, from everybody, but unless you just love your truck and can't bear to get rid of it, or just dumped way to much money into your truck, and want to finish it out right................sell it and get a truck with manual tranny. But with that said, this is the stuff that I know about that you would have to change, you would have to get a new flywheel, ofcourse the new tranny, lengthen your driveshaft, make a new floor pan for the stick to come through, find a cltuch pedel, with all the linkage, manufacture all the costom mounts for the linkage, make a new crossmember for the tranny, costom fabracate new mounts for the crossmember on your frame, and in the end hopfully all the speedo cables, and reverse lights switches will just unplug and plug into the new one. anyway hope this helpes your decision, good luck

Why do you want a manual trans? Mileage?

Thanks jake, that really got me thinking be cause although milage would be nice i want it primarily for the "do something else while driving" factor: so i dont think i will e doing it anytime soon because the work would be to much and too expensive right now.

no problem, I don't want to talk you out of the whole idea, I think that there are allot of people out there that want to do the conversion, but unless you are a welder, its allot of work, money, and no return if you ever decide to sell the truck.
