perfomance with speed density

what kind of performance upgrades have you made with speed density EG. camshaft. pistons . i am wanting to put a perfomance cam in my 90 f150 302 but because of the speed density i have been told not to. i could switch to mass air but i dont think it is worth the moneyas up here in canada every thing is almost double in price. ( thanks for the info.
