we bought this F250 spring of 05 and it ran great, it has 150k miles on it with a new engine with only50k on it. this spring it startedacting up where the battery would only hold a charge for a few days, so we replaced it and same thing happens, when u try to charge it with the cables hooked up the charger shuts off. the truck sometimes starts fine and sometimes there is no electricity to anything on the truck even with a full battery, occasionally when trying to get ti started with no pwer the truck will start a few seconds after you remove the key from the ignition but will idle then cut out about 2 mins later.....anybody know where to start with this thing?

i'm not a ford tech, but i'm a mercedes-benz tech that owns a 94 f150. the first question is, why was the engine replaced at 100k or 150k and who replaced it? having a new engine, and having a new engine installed correctly are 2 different things. i take it that you have a gas engine. it sounds like a battery ground problem to me. did you have the original battery tested, and tested for battery draws? a lot of weird shit can happen when you have a bad battery ground connection. there are more grounds other than the main battery ground cable.

to tell u the truth i dont even know if it is a new engine...the guy said that ti did but it looks original, no we didnt have the battery tested but the only things that have been done to the engine was K&N intake and straight pipe exhaust and ALOT of shoty wiring....

UPDATED:charged the batter up today abut cannot connect the cables because the started instantly kicks in and tryes to start the engine eventhough the key is completely out of the ignition.....possible ignition switch malfunction?
