diesel won't start when cold

My diesel just doesn't want to start if it's colder than 50 deg F (unless plugged in). My glow plug relay is working. Could my glow plugs be bad? Is that common? How hard are they to change?

yeah your glow plugs are bad most likely it also can be weak battiers but they aren't to hard to cahnge i can fo the in about a hour and half

I didn't have time to change them myself, so I took it to a mechanic (he's good and reasonably priced, but horribly slow). Anyway, he not only found a couple of bad plugs, but a burnt spot in the glow plug harness.

Thanks for the help.
