88 F-150 300 floor shifter problem

I have a friend with a 88 F-150 and the pins that hold the gear shift handle in place need to be replaced. Local parts house called somewhere and was told pins not available, have to buy whole tranny tower top for $275. Tranny # E8TADE Hi Speed Mazda, takes 7pints of Type 3 trans fluid. 4 gears w/overdrive. Anybody know where these pins can be obtained?
