4spd conversion

Hi im new to the site, actually ive been reading around here for bout a month now and i like the site, had some problems with my truck and found the solutions on the site. anyway my question is is it complicated to put a 4spd in my truck? powerplant is a 351m

Not really.

you will need all the obvious parts like pedal assembly/transmission/clutch.

I would say a donor truck would be the best thing to have.

what tranny you think that i should go with, im thinking the t-18. i plan on buying it new, thn get the pedels and the other things at a junk yard. will the bellhousings have to be changed out? thanks for the help

NP trans are plentiful.
In fact , because of fuel costing so much it might be cheaper just to buy another truck that runs.

what gives you the idea that it doesnt?? this truck is my daily driver, plenty of power needs more tho

When my 4 wheel drive is engaged there is like a grinding noise under the front end, any idea as to what that would be? thanks

I have a 79 4x4 with a 400 that has a t-18 and have no complaints at all. Great for highway because of a long 4th gear, and in first gear you really feel the torque, you can even take off with out giving it any gas. So in my opinion great combo for pulling and highway mileage.

Thanks for the info, thats exactly what i needed to hear. I like to go mudding and things of that nature, also i hate automatics
