my brother and i just bought a 1980 f150 with six inch suspensoin lift sitting on 33' i naturally want to go bigger eventually run some 38' My question being is the stock front axle on a f150 strong enough to with stand the 38' while having fun in the woods.
35's are the about the limit.
You have a 1/2 ton rated Dana 44 in the front. For 38's you will want to do an SAS with a Dana 60.
35's look and fit perfect for a 6"

I agree with that to a certain extent. 35's are as far tire size in my opinion you would want to put on a TTB 44. If you do a SAS to a solid 44, I dont think you would have too many problems w/ 38's. If you do go with a D60, you might as well look for a 14 bolt or 10.25 for the rear.
